The Law of Attraction states: I attract to my life whatever I give my energy, focus, and attention to, whether wanted or unwanted. According to author/teacher Michael Losier, this law responds to whatever vibration you are offering, by giving you more of what you are vibrating.
I had the wonderful opportunity to ask Michael a few questions about the Law of Attraction--a universal law that is the basis of his book.
Janet: Hi Michael! I really enjoyed reading your book and found the exercises quite helpful. My first question is this: where did the Law of Attraction originate?
Michael: There are references to Law of Attraction in a book called Thought Vibration, first printed in 1906 that I reference in my book. And it's also referenced in Wayne Dyer's work, Think and Grow Rich, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), Hawaiian Huna, as well as Feng Shui. So lots of different teachings refer to Law of Attraction, including Abraham-Hicks which is a group out of Texas who are also teachers of Law of Attraction. It's a universal law, it's like the law of gravity.
Janet: How do individuals overcome the idea of I don't deserve this or maybe God doesn't want me to have it?
Michael: That's an interesting question. Most often, until people really understand about Law of Attraction--until they understand that they're accountable for whatever they attract--they can account for why they're attracting it. You see, as people attract great stuff to their lives, they account for that. And they say things like, "I attracted this because I put it out there." In other words, they have the ability to account for why they attracted it. But when they attract things they don't want, they tend to say "why is the universe giving this to me?"--and as a result, they're not taking full accountability.
So if they think they don't deserve or ask "why is God doing this to me?", it's because they don't understand that it's their own power that can bring it to them. Law of Attraction is not about deserving or not deserving or whether you're worthy or not worthy. When people understand attraction, they'll learn whatever it is they offer vibrationally, they will get more of. And a note about maybe God doesn't want me to have this: Interestingly, I did a teleclass for 50 Christian women, and I was concerned about what they were going to think about the Law of Attraction. And to my delight, they were pleased to hear the message because their collective comments were that now they don't have to blame God when things don't work very well. In other words, they're understanding because of their vibration that negative things would happen--and it wasn't God.
Janet: What recommendations would you give to someone in pain or ill health? Their symptoms are always with them, so how do they raise their vibrations and "believability factor" with the Allowing Statements that you mention in your book?
Michael: Well first, it's important to understand that pain or ill health is really a result of a blocked stream of well-being. Just like a faucet, when you turn on the faucet the water flows through it. When the valve is shut on the faucet, there's no water that can come. It's important to understand that all humans are a stream of consciousness or, rather, a stream of well-being, and that stream of well-being is constantly flowing through them. However, when we have negative thoughts and negative experiences and negative people around us, that negativity is stopping the flow of the constant stream of well-being.
So somebody that's in pain or somebody that's in ill health, the best thing for them to do is keep affirming to themselves that they are a constant stream of well-being, and that well-being flows through them at all times. Most importantly, is for them to identify what's causing the negative vibration in their lives that's stopping the flow of this pure vibration. Sometimes you'll hear people who have cancer or other illnesses who clean up their lives. In other words, they get rid of negative people and negative events and they simplify their lives. Also, they meditate and pray and do all kinds of things to really clean up their energy...and then when they heal themselves, the doctors and everyone calls it a miracle. In my opinion, what has really occurred is that they've removed the negative doubt and the negative vibrations and the negativity from their lives, and now the constant stream of well-being can flow through them. So negativity doesn't flow through somebody, but the negativity is blocking the flow of the stream of well-being.
Janet: Energetically speaking, with the Clarity Through Contrast, Desire Statement, and Allowing Statement Worksheets, what is the best way to approach multiple desires? One a time, or several desires at once?
Michael: This is one of the most common questions I get at my seminars: can I do more than one desire statement at a time? Well, physically you can. But here's what happens. You see, it's my promise that you'll experience change in the area that you use Law of Attraction with. So, for example, if you want to attract more healthy relationships in your life, and on a vibrational scale, let's say between 1 and 100, your current vibration is 50. You and your partner and your friends, and everybody's current vibration is 50, 1 being low and 100 being very high, and you decide that you want to increase your vibrations in relationships. So you've identified your ideal relationship. And all your ideal relationships are really offering vibrations at 80. So, as you're focusing on attracting more relationships on 80, the current people in your life are at 50. So the distance between where you want to be and where you're currently at or where you're friends are currently at, creates lots of resistance.
You'll notice this sometimes when people are in relationships: one of the persons in the relationship takes a personal development program, and they come home excited and have raised their vibrations to 80 and 90. Meanwhile, their mate is still at 50--so there's lots of resistance in that couple because one of them has moved up the scale and the other has stayed. So the same thing would be happening if you were going to do your ideal relationship and your ideal job. As you define what your ideal job is and you're currently working in your job that isn't your ideal job, the distance between where your ideal job is and where you're currently at will create some resistance or some contrast. So I would recommend that you do one Law of Attraction process at a time. And do one on relationships and then fit into that and then wait until it's settled. Then do one on career and then do one on money, then do one on friendships and so on. In other words, you will create a little bit of resistance as you move towards what you want and having to leave behind where you're at.
Janet: Michael, I once asked you a question that one of my readers posted to me about the Law of Attraction: Does it work with attracting people into your life too? What if something just isn't meant to happen for you right now? Even if you're doing everything to attract it, will it still happen? You mentioned that both would have to be vibrating the same level to attract in the first place. But what about timing? Does everything have a "timing" to it?
Michael: Law of Attraction matches vibrations, not necessarily physical attractions. You see sometimes if we say we want to attract Betty or Bob into our lives, and Betty or Bob are not at the same vibrational harmony as we're a--in other words, we might be at 80, and Betty or Bob are vibrationally at 50--you cannot not attract things that aren't in vibrational harmony with yourself. So even though we say we want to be with Betty or Bob, their vibrations might be much lower. And if we go with them, we would feel that resistance or that contrast. So when you talk about a name, Law of Attraction doesn't know who Betty and Bob is, it's simply busy matching vibrations. The truth is you can physically be in a relationship with somebody that's a lower vibration, and many are. And they can always feel the resistance and the contrast while they're in that relationship. But as people learn more about Law of Attraction and learn that it's all about feeling good, they'll become less tolerant of things. You see we don't eat things that don't taste good and we don't smell things that don't smell good, we don't wear things that don't feel good. And eventually, most people will get to the place where they won't want to be in a relationship that doesn't feel good.
Janet: In the book Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives by Psychologist/Hypnotherapist Michael Newton, the author discusses many case studies where clients remember their "life between lives". Consistently, people report that we work with guides on the other side to create our own life lessons for the next incarnation...including choosing the body we'll be in, the family we'll be born into, the challenges we'll face, etc. How does the Law of Attraction fit in with the idea that challenges can stimulate/promote growth--and are perhaps even orchestrated by us before incarnating? In choosing to opt for "feel good" stuff all the time, are we circumventing crucial life lessons?
Michael: I don't have a good understanding of that teaching so I don't have an answer to be able to compare it to what I understand.
I would say it's a fallacy that we need to have that experience in order to get life lessons; we don't need to experience extreme contrast. In fact, just a little bit of contrast will help us decide more. Lots of people think that we need to have really bad experiences to help us grow and learn. Well you can, but it's how long you observe those life experiences or the contrast, rather. In other words, if you're observing contrast for a really, really long time, it might take a long time to birth the clarity and the desire. Or, ideally, we would notice it very quickly; within minutes or hours. You notice how I never say how long briefly is. It could be a nano-second when it comes to a smell, or a minute when it comes to music, or thirty seconds when it comes to how things taste or how things sound or how things feel. And for some people, it could be 20 years in a relationship or 20 years in a job. So there are lessons there. And the lesson is to use the contrast to help you get clear about what it is you want. My point is that you don't have to observe it for a really long time to gain a lesson--it doesn't have to get big and ugly for us to learn.
Janet: I have heard that idea in some Christian circles, as well as New Age: that we're coming into a time where we're beginning to learn through wisdom--and that less people are going down the road of woe.
Thanks so much for taking the time for this interview, Michael!
